The first COVID-19 positive patient from Guwahati, Manish Tibrewal, had arrived in Guwahati from Delhi on March 1.

Although the authorities are ruling out the probability of him contacting with the virus in Delhi, they have however collected samples of 111 people who came in touch with him these last one month.

All samples have been sent for testing.

Those who are able to stay in home quarantine, we’ve asked them to be home quarantined, remaining have been taken to Kalapahar IDSP quarantine centre, informed state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He added that all 150 families at Spanish Garden Apartment where the patient lived with his family have been put under quarantine. The common lift of the Apartment has also been shut down.

“Next 14 days no one will be able to entre or leave Spanish garden except in case of a medical emergency. They will be provided with essentials by the DC and only designated people from the Apartment will be allowed to collect the same from the gate,” Sarma stated.
