Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a video message to all citizens called for the lighting of lamps and torch lights in every household at 9 PM on Sunday, April 5, as an expression of solidarity to fellow countrymen and the poorest of the poor.
“At 9PM on Sunday, shut all lights of your house and display flashlights, candles, torches inside your house for nine minutes and stand in your balcony with mobile light or candle light,” said the PM adding that poor are the most affected in this time of crisis due to coronavirus.
He said that the entire country needs to take them towards light and positivity.
The PM also urged the countrymen to not step out of their houses while lighting lamps and maintain social distancing at all times.
