Minister of state for health and family welfare, Pijush Hazarika said on Thursday that from March 6 onwards, the state government will conduct food safety drives against food stalls on the footpaths.
Hazarika was talking at the inauguration program of state public health laboratory, Bamunimaidam, as NABL accreditation status with sophisticated instrument facility and food safety on wheels.
It is to be mentioned that the minister said that the drive will especially be conducted to see food safety of the ‘Biryani’ stalls set up at the roadside.
“Even i like Biryani but Biryani cooked and sold on the roadside isn’t good for health,” the minister added.
Meanwhile, the govt has also procured a food safety machine worth 8.5 crore for the drive additionally to an already existing machine.
The drive are going to be held against those shops which don’t have valid license to operate, said Hazarika.
