The income tax department might impose a penalty of Rs. 10,000 if someone fail to link PAN card with Aadhaar card within the deadline of March 31.
The IT Department in a fresh notification said, “Not only will their PAN cards become inoperative but they might also face a fine up to Rs 10,000 for using an inoperative PAN card.”
It is to be mentioned that under Section 272B of the income tax Act, an individual found using an invalid/inoperative PAN card could also be fined Rs 10,000.
If an individual misses the deadline for linking, his/her PAN card will become inoperative from April 1. However, it’ll again become operative once the individual links it with the Aadhaar card.
