With the arrival of ongoing inspections against unruly city buses, the Kamrup (M) admin realized Rs. 5.71 lakh as fine and seized 85 city buses.
According to officials, in Guwahati, 12 enforcement teams are deployed to see the town buses to ease the issues faced by commuters. Meanwhile 5 city buses were seized on February 20.
Earlier, during a press meet held at the premises of the Regional Transport Authority, Kamrup (M) DTO, Bapan Kalita said that the drive against city buses plying on the streets of Guwahati are going to be conducted during a rigorous manner.
Kalita further said, “We have given the bus operators two days of your time to display route number, permit number and also the Whatsapp number is to be displayed on the bus with the dimension as instructed by the govt .”
It is to be mentioned that authorities said that whosoever isn’t abiding by the law and therefore the policy as directed, are going to be penalized and stern action are going to be taken against them.
The new policy also directs all city buses to possess an interruption time of less than one minute which was agreed with accordance with the govt and bus association.
