To protect the historic Urpad Beel located at Goalpara, Assam Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore

Pramila Rani Brahma, Minister, social welfare and soil conservation, Assam on Tuesday laid the inspiration stone of the beel’s embankment to guard this natural habitat.

Urpad Beel is documented for its scenic beauty and is home to birds and fishes of various species. Also, a variety of migratory birds come to the lake every year.

Minister Brahma also took a boat tour and enjoyed the sweetness of Urpad Beel.

Located in Agia, 9 km faraway from Goalpara town, Urpad Beel is among the most important natural lakes in lower Assam. it’s widely known for its natural resources including fish and birds of various species like adjutant bird , whistling teal, kingfisher, etc, and water plants like the water lily, the water orchid , etc.
