Amidst all speculations on the ongoing Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) debate and protest, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took a jibe at the Congress, Akhil Gogoi and AASU general Secretary, Lurin Jyoti Gogoi.

Speaking to media, Himanta Biswa indirectly talked about former CM Tarun Gogoi and All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader Lurin Jyoti Gogoi and KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi, who has emerged as one of the new faces during the agitation against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

Himanta said that AASU did not agree with the base year when the Assam Accord was signed because then it was not the age for them to fight the election.

Himanta alleged that AASU is only conducting meeting in areas wherein the Assamese community could be scattered or broken down.
